Thank you to everyone who attended and enjoyed the shows during the 2011/2012 season!

However, there is no time to dwell in the past. Let’s get ready for our next great season!

Coming to you for the 2012/2013 season we have…

Heath Tarlin entertainment Inc. Presents

“Cake and I Scream” -

Sunday October 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm at The Northern Light Theatre

This is a story of two people, Hank and Shirley, trying their hands at opening a brand new restaurant. There is only one problem, it’s right next to an amusement park! Hank and Shirley are a little worried about competing with all the fun next door, until they hit on a plan to make their restaurant every bit as entertaining as the rides and games at the amusement park. Yes, they’re spicing it up and we’re not talking about the food! The main dish is on fire, the plates are spinning and the spaghetti is flying! The big question is – will Hank and Shirley’s crazy inventions and wild antics make their restaurant a success? Of course! This is a comedy!

Dufflebag Theatre presents

“Peter Pan”

Sunday November 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Northern Light Theatre

The Dufflebag actors begin the retelling of the classic fairy tale, Peter Pan. Just when the audience becomes enthralled by the story – a twist is created! Before your very eyes, audience members are invited on stage and are drawn into the action. This unpredictable performance is a hilarious experience for all ages and a truly unique interactive theatrical experience where the dream of living a fairy tale actually does comes true!

Rag & Bone Puppet Theatre presents

“The Wind in the Willows”

Sunday January 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm at The Northern Light Theatre

With exceptional puppetry, theatre, storytelling, dance, music and visual art, the Rag & Bone Puppet Theatre tells this wonderful story of four little animals – the shy Mole, Rat, who loves the river, Badger who doesn’t go out much, and Toad, whose boisterous adventures can have dangerous consequences – stand up to bullies, rescue a baby otter, and learn how to listen to what the wind whispers in the willows, all along the river.

Circus Montreal

Date and Location unknown at this time

A gourmet fusion of circus, comedy and theatre. An all ages show that has been seen live by over a million people in 13 countries around the world. The recipe: Begin with one comic gentleman, add a crow, mix in exciting circus prop and add amazing stunts & tricks. The result: a unique and popular show filled with silly elegance and cheering audiences.

Sounds great right? We can’t wait and we want you to come and join us!

Early Bird Season Passes are on sale right now until June 30th.

On Sunday, November 13th we welcomed Dufflebag Theatre to the Northern Lights Pavilion in Haliburton for their production of “A Christmas Carol“.

This 1 hour production featured one of our own audience members, Jacob D, as the main character Ebenezer Scrooge much to the delight to his classmates, friends and family in the audience who turned out to watch the show. (As you can imagine, in a small town like this most of us know Jacob in some way). This show requested audience participation in the form of verbal response to the performer’s cues and invited several additional members from the audience onstage for their shot at fame.

With age appropriate and updated quips mixed into the show from the performers including a snippet of Rebecca Black’s infamous song, “Friday” as well as the very understandable confusion between Scrooge’s business partner Jacob Marley and the reggae man, Bob Marley this was a show that had the kids and adults alike laughing.

A wonderful time was had by all and the audience rang out with laughter at the antics that this show brought to Haliburton. What a great way to kick off our 26th season.

For more shows performed by Dufflebag Theatre, please check them out online at www.dufflebag.com.

Well, it has been an interesting journey to get here but guess what everyone…here we are! Welcome to the first blog post for Razzamataz Kids Shows!

We are a locally run, not for profit organization which is dedicated to bringing high quality live entertainment to the County of Haliburton. We are currently in our 26th year and have literally been entertaining and engaging the young people of Haliburton County for all of this time.

Every year we bring 4 totally different shows to the county for families to enjoy. Sometimes they are theatrical productions, sometimes they are rock concerts, sometimes there are storytellers with puppets and props, and other times we have clowns and physical gymnastic routines. The only thing that we can for sure promise is that it will NEVER be the same show twice!

You have young children and aren’t sure if they will sit through the 1 hour production – that’s okay. The performers that we recruit usually have audience participation as a bare minimum. Often the kids will be asked to dance at their seat, or wave their arms in the air or something active which keeps the kids interested.

The typical age range is anywhere from newborn up to 100+ however, the shows themselves are aimed for children between 2 & 12 years old. As mentioned earlier, each show is different so some will be for more of the upper end and some for the lower end of this age range. As part of the committee for the last 4 years I can honestly tell you that until I see the show I don’t know which age range each production will fit in.

We strongly encourage you to come on out to a show and to see what we are all about. For $24 you can get a season pass for all 4 shows – I’ll do the math for you – the cost there is $6/show. Really, where can you find live entertainment for a cost of $6/show. This season pass ticket price is the same whether you are an adult or a child and passes are transferable if you are unable to make a show! What a deal!!!

So, really, there is no reason why you shouldn’t come on out and give us a try. We look forward to wowing you!
